Annual Great Rubber Duck Race Takes Place Despite Heat, Drought
Despite the heat and drought that nearly dried up the creek, the Great Rubber Duck Race took place to the cheers of the crowd. This is the culmination of an annual event that encourages Sunday School attendance during the summer months by offering both weekly prizes and an increasing number of ducks in the race to everyone for Sunday School attendance, bringing visitors, or by making up Sunday School by attending an evening worship service. Every week a lucky duck was drawn from a list of those in Sunday School last week, and the winner received prizes and the chance to wear the Lucky Duck Hat of King Duck, Dan Duggar, who spearheads this event. The child who brought the most visitors was recognized with a $50.00 prize and those with perfect attendance also won $20.00 each along with the cash prizes given to the winners in the duck race. The Duck Race met its goals this year by having over 90% of those in worship service (adult included) stay for Sunday School, by having more visitors and Sunday School attendees than last year, about 133 different people, and by having an increase in the Sunday evening worship attendance. Pictures from the Duck Race may be seen by clicking here and a video of the final race is available on the video page.
