Galax First United Methodist Church has recently begun its second century of ministry and service to the folks in and beyond the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest Virginia.
All that we are about is rooted in being God's covenant people who take seriously worship, mission, and service.

Worship opportunities include each Sunday at 11:00a.m., with an early worship at 9:00 a.m. , during warmer months of the year. In addition, we offer a midweek service called Noonday at 12:05 p.m., each Wednesday. Special seasonal worship services are also conducted.
Sunday School—it's for life! From our youngest to our oldest, each Sunday at 10:00 a.m., there are several classes which help to shape and form us into disciples of Jesus Christ.

Other educational opportunities include a spring Confirmation experience and other special studies. An informal Bible study group, Seekers , meets on a monthly basis during the day as well.
Other vital ministries of First UMC are a weekday Nursery School, United Methodist Women, United Methodist Youth, children's programming, the Christmas Angel Tree Project, Scouting for both boys and girls, mission trips, and a variety of musical groups.
