Get Ready, Get Ready!

The countdown is on. Do you sense the excitement and spirit of anticipation that is in the atmosphere? This time of the year we find ourselves experiencing the joy and mystery of the Advent of Jesus Christ. The season signals days of preparing for the birth of the Christ child. It is a season that calls us to begin a deliberate inward and forward look for Jesus Christ the light of the world. The ancient text as recorded in Luke 3:4c states: “Prepare the way of the Lord.” Indeed, the Christian world is eagerly waiting for the arrival of the Holy one! The question is Are you ready? Are you preparing your heart to receive Jesus?

In closing, please join with me in celebrating a “race well run” by the Rev, John Rhoades who has let his light shine for many years of service as a United Methodist pastor. Effective January 1, 2012, John will officially retire (a second time) from his pastoral duties. As a Spirit led servant leader and often during difficult times, Rev. Rhoades has brought purpose and meaning to a countless number of fellow travelers along the weary roads of life. Thank you John for a job well done!
