**********

As a unit pledged to missions, the group supports specific mission projects:   UMCOR, Hope and Wholeness for Children and Youth, Wesley House, and the Morgan-Scott Project.   We make an annual pledge to Missions; we give World Thank Offerings, Love Offerings, and an offering during the Call to Prayer and Self-Denial. We participate in Bible Studies, spiritual enrichment activities, and the Reading Program.

Locally, each group selects projects for special services to individuals and families in the community; provides service in the church, to the sick, handicapped, and people in nursing homes; serves the church with meal preparation and supplies; and seeks to give care and love to all.

WHO IS A MEMBER?

Any woman may become a member if she chooses to join and commit herself to the PURPOSE of the organization.

Women of the United Methodist Church are not automatically members of the United Methodist Women.   Membership is for those women who wish to participate through giving, prayer, study, action, or service.   All Methodist women are welcome, and in fact, are encouraged to belong.   Non-members of the United Methodist Church may also join.

WHY HAVE UNITED METHODIST WOMEN?

In the life of the church, women have been and wish to be:

•  catalysts for continuing humanization of God's world,

•  mobilizers for the resources of women,

•  creators of new areas for participation in the church and the world,

•  reconcilers working together with those of common concerns,

•  active participants in the global mission outreach of the church.
